I went to this site several years ago in December. At this time this fort is decorated in a festival manner with Christmas decorations. Too, my pre- ordered ticket with a named time included a delicious lunch in a large tent. There were many visitors here and so unlike a regular independent tour, I couldn't wander at will. Instead I followed a path on my own that allowed me to view barracks, officers' quarters, the school etc, but not every area. I enjoyed what was shown. Later I walked to Santa Angela. Here at this former rowdy community 19th Century Soldiers went there for entertainment. From here one can go downtown.
We loved our tour & the tour guide was Amazing with our rowdy crowd! 🥰
I greatly appreciate it when the government takes care of such important sites as this. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible to preserve history and make all this information available to both locals and foreigners. By doing so, we raise awareness among them of the value we place on the work of our ancestors, and by making it accessible to Americans, we promote love for our nation. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this place.
