My Australian Shepherd, Oswald, has been going to Safe and Hound for well over a year now, and I truly can’t say enough good things about this place. My dog has always struggled with a bit of anxiety and separation issues... especially when we first moved, he would tear up the house trying to find us whenever we left. I tried another daycare, but sadly he spent most of his time in a kennel and even came home with little burns on his elbows from laying on hot pavement when he was out. It was heartbreaking. Safe and Hound has been the complete opposite experience. Here, Oswald is surrounded by caring humans and other dogs all day long. He’s not super outgoing, but he’s made daycare friends here, both people and dogs! :) It makes my day when the staff tell me who he played with, or when I can check in on their social media and see him having fun. I always drop him off with “Have fun at school!” Everyone who works there is fantastic, whether they've been there for years or are just starting. Everyone has been warm, kind, and genuinely excited to see him. Janice, in particular, has been such a sweet friend to him (and me!) She greets him with snuggles and even serenades him at pickup with Gloria Gaynor. The facility itself is so well maintained. They always keep it comfortable for the dogs: doors and windows open on breezy days, cool air during the heat of summer, and a warm, cozy space in the winter. There’s even a sprinkler in the summertime that the dogs love to splash around in. I always feel that Oswald is safe, cared for, and getting the enrichment he needs while I’m at work, which takes away so much of my guilt about leaving him. I love this place, and I am so grateful for everything Safe and Hound has done for Oswald. If you’re looking for a daycare that treats your pup like family, this is it.
As someone who has run dog daycares and still works with dogs professionally, I have a high standard and expectation in regard to a daycare environment and the treatment of my beloved dog (as I know most of us do). And I greatly appreciate the people at Safe and Hound and the love and care they provide. I have a shepherd/husky mix and with the help of his daycare he has made great progress and worked through several things throughout his stages of life. The people here take the time to know and understand what our dogs need to excel and thrive while teaching them how to be appropriate in a pack. Every dog is different and not all will enjoy pack life, and I appreciate that this daycare will be honest and look out for the best interest of your dog as well as everyone else's. This job is not easy and it takes a lot of love, patience, and knowledge to keep them safe, happy and understood. And that's what you get at Safe and Hound.
West Linn Safe & and Hound is a wonderful place to take your pet for daycare. My dog, Annie, loves being there and they treat her with love too.
The staff goes above and beyond to make sure my dog is well taken care of and treat him like one of their own. Couldn’t ask for a better place for my dog to play while I’m at work :)
