We had a wonderful experience with WOVA. My daughter transferred from out of state midway through the 9th grade semester, and the transition could have been very stressful. However, the support we received made the process smooth and positive from the start. Brad Devries was incredibly helpful in getting my daughter onboarded and settled. He took the time to walk her through everything she needed to catch up on and made sure she understood the expectations and timeline. What stood out the most was how he checked in with her weekly to ensure she was staying on track and feeling supported. Because of that guidance and structure, my daughter was able to stay organized and successfully complete the semester. She has now transitioned seamlessly back into in-person high school, and we truly believe the WOVA program played a big role in making that possible. We’re very grateful for the support and care shown by Mr Devries and Mr Nguyen, and I couldn’t speak more highly about the WOVA program and the dedication they show to helping students succeed.

WOVA has been an incredible option for my family and my youngest son who has some learning disabilities. He was struggling in school and I knew we needed to make a change. We explored all of our options and WOVA seemed like the best fit. He is now excelling there. He takes all his classes through the virtual academy except for one specials class. West Ottawa has been amazing and will let you customize your educational experience based on what is best for each student. We take him to Mac Bay Middle School for one class, so that he can get the interaction with his peers and also receive some of his services there after his class. The rest of the time we are doing the virtual academy. The staff, Mr Tung Nguyen, the Principal, and Mr. DeVries, the main middle school and high school virtual teacher, have been wonderful and super helpful in our journey. The virtual academy still operates on the same curriculum that West Ottawa does so we know that they're getting an exceptional education experience. Students are provided a laptop and all the necessary learning tools to do the best that they can. We have a daily academy check-in just like you would if you were in person and we also meet weekly with our WOVA teacher. He helps handle any questions or concerns and is always checking in with the students. Since we follow the same West Ottawa curriculum, we have all the same teachers for each class that any in person student would get. They are all amazing and they answer any questions we have. The modules are outlined very easily online with due dates so it is very thorough and easy to follow. It has truly been an amazing opportunity for my son. My second son is currently taking one AP class through the virtual academy as well and loving that. Mr. Devries also helps him with a weekly check-in just to make sure he is progressing like he should be. It's a great fit for him as well even though he is just taking one class. WOVA allows you to take as many classes that you want through them and helps you customize the best fit for your student. West Ottawa has a very well-rounded approach to education where each student can find the best fit for them while getting an amazing education. The virtual academy also offers field trips every quarter and it's a great way to get virtual students to connect and meet with other kids that are on their same path.

We were looking for an alternative to a traditional in-person high school for my daughter when she started to pursue her dance training during the day in her junior year. Therefore, she needed a more flexible school schedule. WOVA not only provided that, but was extremely helpful and understanding, never wavering from their mission to provide an excellent and outstanding academic experience, which included a rigorous schedule and very high expectations. My daughter was assigned a mentor who checked in with her regularly and also guided her to get back on track when she was falling behind with some classes. Curriculums are written by WOHS staff and she was even able to complete a few AP classes 100% online. The leadership and staff are very committed to help each student achieve their very best and to tailor a program that fits their needs. WOVA has felt like family over the last two years. I would say they have a holistic approach to secondary education. Thank you Mr. Nguyen, Mr. DeVries and teaching staff.

WOVA was a awesome thing for our child. They were great and supportive when we pulled her from another school in the middle of a semester because of bullying. The teachers and admin are great and very supportive. The time they spent at WOVA was invaluable. We are grateful for the experience we had here.
