This was one of the most disturbing experiences I have ever had at a children’s dance school, specifically in the Toddler Ballet class at Supernova Dance Company. In a class of only 7–8 kids, my child was consistently pushed to the very back of the room, even though she repeatedly tried to sit in the front like the other children. This was not an isolated incident — this happened almost every single class for two months. That pattern alone speaks volumes. Despite the teacher later claiming that the children were switching places by themselves, what I witnessed was systematic and intentional behavior. My child is bilingual and still learning English, and it strongly felt like she was being singled out and treated unfairly. This type of behavior from an educator is completely unacceptable. The most heartbreaking part: my child cried twice during the lesson, and not a single adult reacted until I personally entered the room and took her out. Ignoring a crying child in a Toddler class is emotionally harmful and deeply unprofessional. I do NOT recommend this school to parents who care about emotional safety, equal treatment, and basic human compassion toward children.

A Home Away From Home – 6 Incredible Years at Supernova Our daughter has danced with Supernova for the past 6 years, participating on both the recreational and competition teams, and the experience has been nothing short of incredible. The studio has played a huge role in shaping her into a confident, respectful, and hardworking young woman. She’s learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, humility, and self-belief — all while doing what she loves. What makes Supernova so special is the positive, inclusive environment. Whether a dancer is recreational or competitive, every child is supported, encouraged, and treated with kindness. The studio promotes real friendships and healthy competition, while making it clear that disrespect or exclusion is not tolerated. Every dancer is welcomed, celebrated, and valued. Supernova has become a second home for not just our daughter, but our entire family. The owners and families are warm, approachable, and dedicated. While the training is top-tier and the competition team is strong, the dancers’ well-being always comes first. If you’re looking for a studio that blends elite instruction with heart, integrity, and community, I wholeheartedly recommend Supernova. It has truly been a gift to watch our daughter grow here as a dancer and as a person.

Rec classes were fine, but once asked to join the competition team, we quickly realized there were favorites and different rules for different people. I sent multiple emails over the 2 years we associated with them for help with bullying situations. They refused to address them all. They then removed us from the team 2 weeks before leaving for Nationals and refused to sign a scholarship my daughter won over to a new Studio - therefore taking the experience of a trip to Vegas to dance away from her. My children were 6 and 9 years old - they refused to even speak to me on the phone, tell me why, or refund us for Nationals or Vegas. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a competitive team atmosphere go elsewhere for better technical training and to stay away from bullying experiences.

If you are looking for recreational or competitive dance with teachers and mentors that have technical and creative expertise; and a community that can become your family, then Supernova is the home for you. As the moms of two graduating seniors, we have spent over 10 years watching our daughters grow up at Supernova learning dance and life lessons symbiotically. The owners and teachers are exceptionally skilled in all capacities from dance basics to high level training, to biometrics as related to dance, to outstanding choreography. They are inclusive of all children and levels and know the delicate balance of teaching children how to find confidence and ability while maintaining physical and mental safety and integrity. One of the signs of a positive environment is seeing alumni come back for guest classes, recitals, competitions, etc. We see this at Supernova, and there is nothing better than watching friends and family come back to interact with and cheer for the younger generations. As our daughters finish their last few weeks of dance, and we watch them leave for their next chapters in college, we know their self-esteem, discipline, and focus were all learned during their time at Supernova. And we know they will be joining the alumni in coming back to watch their younger friends in their dance journey! Christen Sullivan and Tanya Szramka
