Please read this in full as I want to expose this scam factory: My uncle passed away in 2023 and was buried at the Islamic Center of Bowling Green on Dec 31 at the price of $10,000. It took MONTHS for him to be issued a proper headstone as staff informed us that they wait for a bigger number of people to be buried and place a bulk order for headstones in order to save money. Once his headstone was finally put up - HIS NAME IS WRONG ON THE HEADSTONE. His middle name is listed as his first name. My dad called to complain and was told that it was his fault for writing the wrong name on the burial paperwork. My dad was able to prove that incorrect as he has a copy of the paperwork showing he properly filled it out. The staff at the mosque still would not do anything about it. Later, a friend of ours who is a member of the mosque went and talked to the staff in person to see if the headstone could be fixed. He was told no and that it doesn’t matter because “he’s dead anyway.” It has been over 2 years and the headstone is still wrong. I went to visit last month and someone attempted to scratch in the correct name. So now the stone is both damaged and has the wrong name. Disturbingly, every person who was buried in 2025 (about ten people) still has a temporary headstone. There seems to be no sense of urgency from this place to give people the dignity they deserve from a proper headstone. I called several times in April 2026. No one ever answered or responded to messages. I assumed they weren’t calling me back because I’m a woman and they think I’m beneath them, so my male cousin has called every day for 3 weeks and even HE cannot get a call back. So I guess they don’t hate women - they just hate anyone that tries to hold them accountable. If you are reading this, my uncle’s name is AREF not Afif. He deserves so much better than this. Do not give your business to this scam factory.
