Truly invested in the kids growth and well being - walkable to two neighboring elementary schools. Great staff.
We used La Petite Danville for a week while our regular day care was out of session for spring break, and absolutely fell in love with the school. The teachers were so good with the kids, that the transition was very minimal. We felt welcome from Day 1. I particularly loved the video and updates we received throughout the days, which made it very easy for us to be comfortable with this center quickly. My kids and I are so happy we found this gem and hope to come back for more times when our regular school is out! Thank you all for the wonderful care for our kids.
Our family LOVES La Petite Danville and I absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a preschool or daycare for ages 2–5. The staff are consistently caring, patient, and kind with the children. My kids feel safe and supported, and they are also challenged academically. By age three, my child was spelling classmates’ names because the teachers practiced this regularly as a group. My youngest could count to 30 at age two (we alternated numbers together), which came from their daily focus on letters and counting. The school has a great established routines and structure. Children go outside multiple times a day, rotating between different playground areas, including a play structure, a large sandbox, tricycle track, basketball hoop, hula hoops, balls, and a climbing dome. They also rotate other toys outside to keep things exciting. They even had a field trip last Spring to the garden center next door to learn about plants! They use dedicated math and English Language Arts curriculum, and as a teacher myself, I reviewed it and it's well designed and developmentally appropriate. Instruction includes direct teaching, guided practice, independent work, group and partner work, and self-guided activities. Teachers group students strategically based on academic and behavioral needs to provide support or challenge when needed. Students also have rotating classroom jobs each week so they can have ownership over their environment. Their approach to behavior and social development is thoughtful and consistent. Conflict resolution is handled in a calm, age-appropriate way with clear boundaries, like keeping your hands to yourself. Children are taught manners, body awareness, respect for others (including asking before hugging), and how to communicate wants and needs appropriately. I also appreciate the cameras and parent app, which provide real-time updates on bathroom visits, activities, academics, weekly plans, photos, and videos. They host parent engagement events such as Art Gallery Night, Open House, and offer two parent-teacher conferences per year, which is more than the public school district offers for each student! They also have babysitting nights occasionally on Fridays when you can drop off your little ones and have a quiet dinner to yourself. They are open ALL THE TIME, even more than I think they need to be, but it is so helpful when you're trying to get things done around the house or if you happen to come down with a cold on a school vacation. They even let older kids who previously attended come back on SRVUSD school vacation days if their parents can't get coverage - my son saw two of his friends their on those days and requested to go back! La Petite Danville provides two snacks daily, and my kids genuinely enjoy the food. The bulletin boards are thoughtfully done, displaying student artwork alongside photos of the children creating it, and those photos are sent home attached to the finished projects. Art includes both guided projects and free creative time, along with guided play and free play. When one of my children struggled behaviorally, La Petite Danville thoughtfully implemented a daily behavior plan and worked with him consistently, reinforcing acceptable and unacceptable behaviors and explaining why, for about a year and a half. I believe their dedication and work with him is the primary reason that his kindergarten report card said he follows directions, meets expectations, and is a "model student!" This school (previously called Acorn Learning) offers a really strong early childhood education program with loving teachers, clear structure, and meaningful academic and social-emotional support. We’re very grateful to the teachers and directors for their dedication and care. La Petite Academy Danville is WONDERFUL. You'd be crazy to send your child anywhere else.
We LOVE La Petite Danville! Our middle son started here when he was just 2 in 2022. This was just after our COVID era so we had toured a few schools by the time we found La Petite Danville. I didn't feel at home or comfortable until I met Ms. Anna and walked into that door. The staff is warm and welcoming. All of the teachers were patient, kind, and nurturing. My son thrived there and loved going to school everyday- always picked up with a smile. They even helped me potty train him!! They are very hands on, they let the kids explore and get dirty. They provide extremely healthy and tasty snacks. Classrooms and student restrooms are always extremely clean. The level of responsibility my son leaned here at such a young age was amazing as well. Each classroom is a little family and they all have jobs and watching little ones take pride in being the sweeper or the weather reporter or the line leader is the CUTEST. All of the teachers get to know the students too so it's comforting to know that they are in good hands with anyone that is there. They have an app that the teachers actually use to provide updates and give parents real time information. The app is connected to the live video cameras so you can always peek at your little one. I did this more often than I'd like to admit 🙈 The parent teacher conferences at this age are so nice too because you can learn about how your child is developing in the classroom both in their ABC's and socially. Overall, we loved our 2yrs here and will be back to enroll our youngest in a month or so and honestly I'm looking forward to giving my son the experience of being a part of La Petite Danville.
My kids love going to La Petit Academy of Danville! As a parent, I feel safe and confident knowing the teachers take wonderful care of them. The school has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We also loved attending their summer camp - it's full of fun and engaging activities. We highly recommended this school to other families.
