Howrah Planetarium is honestly a hidden gem in Kolkata. It’s a cosy 100-seater, but the moment the 3D, 4K show begins, it feels like a whole universe opens up. It’s a perfect outing for everyone — from kids to senior citizens. I went in for just one show and ended up watching two back-to-back — one on Planets and the other on Penguins. Both were absolutely spectacular. Each show is about 25 minutes, short enough to keep you hooked and long enough to wow you. They have shows in English, Hindi, and Bengali. The timings are 3 pm (English), 4 pm (Hindi), and 5 pm & 5:45 pm (Bengali). They’re closed on Tuesdays. I don’t remember which movie plays when, but honestly, both the Planet and Penguin shows are equally fun. The best part? It literally shares a wall with Howrah Maidan Metro Station — so getting there is super easy. It’s also wheelchair-friendly, and differently-abled visitors can roll right in without any hassle. A small place, a big surprise. Highly recommended!
